The Second Annual Flip Off Classic Golf Tournament

It has been a whole month since

The Second Annual Flip Off Classic

Golf Tournament, and we’re still recovering from the high of the day. For an event that takes so much planning, preparation and patience anticipating, it sure feels like it flies by in the blink of an eye. Thankfully, we have so many photos to look back and remember all the fun we had!

This year was another successful turnout—it’s amazing how many people are still so passionately supporting Jono and honoring him with us two years after his passing. We hope everyone continues to show up and join us in celebrating his life for years to come, as we will never stop finding ways to keep him alive.

The event consisted of 45 teams, split again into two shotguns. We were thankful to receive 35 generous sponsors, whose support allowed us to host such a wonderful event and gift our golfers with custom jackets, balls, and tees. The raffle donors did not disappoint with the prize donations again this year, sending some lucky people home with a free weekend on the Cape for Mother’s Day 2024, Patriots tickets, a GPS Golf Watch, and a 70-inch TV… just to name a few highlights. Golfers had chances throughout the course to win drinks, raffle tickets, and play a game to win a prize from the Stateside Vodka pop-up tent. Our afternoon was blessed with music from a local band, Tone Wolf, we commissioned to occupy the patio.

The winners of the 2023 Flip Off Classic Golf Tournament were Brendan Collamore, John Mackenna, Corey Smith, and Erik Bowers. Aside from bragging rights, these golf superstars took home $50 gift cards to Wyckoff’s Pro Shop as well as the Tournament Trophy. The goal is for the winners to return with the trophy next year and defend their title as champions. We’re looking forward to seeing whether these guys will be able to bring it home once again or be forced to pass over the throne.

Our fingers were not only flipped all day but also crossed, hoping the predicted rain would pass us. Jono, once again, had our backs and gave us a beautiful day holding the showers until the last group of golfers completed their final hole. The rainfall commenced the evening activities inside where appetizers, dinner, and drinks were served. The entrance of the banquet hall was lined with photo collages depicting highlights of Jono’s beautiful 30 years here, and a slideshow played on loop throughout the night. The room was filled with golfers, dinner guests, and music from the amazing Marty Fullwood, who donated his evening to us.

At most golf tournaments, you often hear the golfers reflecting on their swings and scores at the end of the evening. However, this event has proven to be different on both occasions—the conversations overheard throughout the room consisted of stories about Jono or social highlights of their day. Surprisingly, no one seemed to care how well they golfed for once; they were all just there to have a good time, the way Jono would’ve wanted. The winners were happy to win, but even more thrilled to have a trophy that represents the time they had achieving it.

As the night came to a close, people said their goodbyes and ensured everyone had a safe ride. Some made their way home, others went out, but everyone left with a piece of Jono and new memories to talk about.

Thank you so much to everyone—Wyckoff Country Club, golfers, sponsors, donors, dinner guests, supporters—for making this possible.

Until next year ♥
